Get him unplugged, we gotta boogie." "Roger sir." There was a pause. "Admiral Lee, are you with us?" *SLAP* Richard opened his eyes and blinked a few times. Not more then two inches from his face was the helmeted face of... Rich had no idea who it was. The soldier shook his head, causing Rich to chuckle and close his eyes again. "It's as I suspected Major, he's drugged out of his mind. Looks like they were interrogating him." "Also as expected." Another voice said. "Alright, give him the cocktail. We've got fifteen minutes to hump it outta here." Rich barely felt the hypo being applied to his neck, but he heard that first voice say. "Cover the doors; this will take a couple of minutes. And he's libel to go mad from..." If the Marine finished his thought, Rich didn't hear it. Immediately his eyes snapped open, wild paranoid thoughts ran through his head. HE HAD TO GET AWAY! These were killers, murders, here to take his life. He fought against the Marine with all his wild, panic-induced strength, though he couldn't budge the man in BDU. Richard started screaming at the top of his lungs, mostly incoherent babble. The last however many days/weeks/months didn't matter; he HAD to get away NOW! The Marine holding him was speaking, but Rich was only catching a few words here and there. Something about the drugs effects, increased paranoia and adrenalin while they burned the truth-inducing and mind-altering drugs out of his system. It didn't make much sense, it only forced Rich to believe more fully that these Marines were here to do him harm. "Damn drugs." The Major growled as he stepped forward and took Rich's face between his armored palms. "LISTEN HERE!" he bellowed at high volume, loud enough to shock Rich into silence and hurt his ear drums. "We have fought through more sh*t-holes and unfriendly ships in the last twenty days looking for you then I've ever wanted to see in my life. I've lost good people in the hunt for your scrawny carcass, shorty." He continued in a deep growl. "NOW, you WILL screw your head on straight Admiral, or I'll PERSONALLY kick your arse from here to base!" Rich, his head already starting to clear from whatever the 'cocktail' was that he had been given, put two and two together and came out with four. "You're here to rescue me?" he said, with just a hint of disbelief. This could, after all, be a ruse to make him talk. "Yes. Now, do I have to kick your ass and put you over my shoulder, or are you good to go?" The Marine who had been holding him was pulling gear out of a specific pack, what looked to be an Armored vest and a few other goodies usually carried by Security. "No." Rich said, thickly. "I will not fall for another trap." The Major cursed and picked him up bodily, then pulled him face-to-face. "I thought you might say that." The face smiled, slightly, as if pleased. "And the Seventh Angel poured out his vial into the air..." Rich blinked, he recognized that! He cleared his throat, "And a great voice cried out from the temple of Heaven, from the throne..." "...Saying 'Kick ass, take names and don't spare the booze!' Now Admiral, lets go!" That butchered quote from the old Christian bible was one of the last counter-phrases that Lee had approved before being captured. And he was mostly sure that he'd never screamed it, he'd never been asked about it. Only someone from LoDona (unless he'd given it away telepathically) would know the question, the response and counter response. IT wasn't perfect, but it was better then nothing. His level of paranoia dropped- if only slightly. The Marine who had held him was wrapping him up in a flack jacket. Rich blinked a few times as the Major put him down, then pulled one of the two hand-phasers the Major carried from his armor. The Major looked ready to argue, but Rich held the weapon up. "Alright Major, lead the way." "You won't be able to move fast Sir, just stay with us. I'll be with you always." The Sergeant who had held him said. The Marine handed Rich a small ear-piece communicator and looked up, "Twelve minutes." "Alright Dirty Dragons. Let's make a hasty exit." The Major said. Two more Marines detached themselves from the wall near the exit and stepped out. Rich squared his shoulders as, for the first time in however long, stood to his full height. He looked down at himself and was almost disgusted. He was wearing very little, the Flack jacket was the most significant piece of clothing he was sporting. He was covered in filth. But, he was free... assuming this wasn't all a hallucination. They all stepped out; the Marines were covering both sides of a corridor. Off to one side, another Marine had an armored foot on the chest of a man who had been gagged. The man was wearing the black-on-black of Starfleet Special Operations. He was, in fact, the man who Lee remembered from all the sessions he had endured. The Admiral's face tightened and, before anyone could stop him, he brought up the phaser and fired. It was set middle-high; it hit the man in the head and drilled a hole straight-through to the deck-plates. Lee took a deep breath, his face a tight mask, and looked up. The major, whose face-plate was now reflective and wouldn't let Lee see the man's face, nodded once. "Let the healing begin Sir." Was all the man said to him. The earpiece in Lee's hand buzzed. Rich looked down at it for a moment, and then carefully fit it into his ear. =/=... l the explosives are set Major, we're all boogying to the shuttle. Da*ned Shame and Wheelers Fanatics are pulling back as well, on my orders, they'll keep up the cover long enough for you to get the Fleet Wetback to the evac site.=\= =/=Very well.=\= the major said over the line. =/=Alright everyone, this is Major Lewis. All hands retreat to evac, and play your favorite CE games on the way... keep these guys on their toes.=\= ~Combat Engineers, figures.~ Rich thought as he checked the charge on his phaser. He had been a security chief once after all; such things came naturally to him. ~Robert must have cared enough to send the very best.~ They started moving at once; Lee was in the middle of the five men sent to escort him. Two were in front, two behind, and the guardian Sergeant was standing next to him, ready to grab him and run - or throw him to cover - as necessary. The rest of the Combat Engineers must have been off raising havoc, setting explosives. Destroying ships covertly was what CE's did best, after all. Rich, whose head was already clearer then it had been in a long time, asked "What's the date, Major?" "2407.06.10, Admiral." Was the hurried reply. ~Two months.~ Lee thought glumly. They paused at every corridor intersection they came to, and the two flanking Marines stepped forward and would either wave them on... or fire on some poor suspecting security officer. They passed the bodies of Dozens in their march to whatever transport they'd brought. The ship, whatever ship they were on now, was at Red Alert and must have put up a nice fight even though they'd been surprised. And there -had- to have been surprise, else three squads would never have made it far. CE's were good at that, too. Sometimes to good. Finally they came to a shuttle bay. There, sitting proudly in the light, was a Gryphon Class troop transport with a couple of Marines sitting in the heavy phaser emplacements. Rich paused and looked down on it from the second storey hight they were at. "How they hell did you achieve tactical surprise using one of those ugly beasts?" he asked, incredulously. The Gryphons were made to transport multiple companies; they barely fit in most shuttle-bays. Whatever ship they were on sported a very large main shuttle bay, that's the only way it could have fit. "Easy, four of us burned through from Martini Shakers and took over the sensors, they never saw the good ole' Caligula coming." The major said, with some small amount of pride. Rich shivered. He'd once ridden in a Marine Boarding Torpedo, known as the Martini Shaker of Death. It was enough to convince him that any Marine who chose to ride one was four cans short of a six pack. =/=Resistance is picking up Major. Six minutes!=\= his earpiece buzzed, amid the sounds of heavy combat. The Major gestured to the ship, and the boarding party quickly made their way down some utility stairs and into the ship. Rich sat down at once in the ship, shaking form exertion and disbelief, and found himself stroking the chair he was sitting on. It was made for a Marine in gear, this was an unloading bay... and thus it was several sizes to large. However, if this were real and he'd actually managed to escape; then this was the most comfortable seat in the world. The heavy phasers above them opened up, their sound distinctive- especially in such a small room as a Main shuttlebay. Several seconds later, several suited but inert Marines were tossed into the bay, followed by several animated Marines who were dragging obviously injured men along. "We're all here, GO GO GO!" one of them bellowed as the last of the Marines jumped into the ship and hit the button that closed the door. The airlock closed in seconds, but not before at least one phaser beam flashed in and hit a Marine square in the shoulder, turning him around and flinging him to the floor. Rich moved to help, but the Marine waved him off. "Didn't get through, I'm good... you the Admiral?" "Yes." "Thank god, no more ships to hit for a while." The Marine said as he lay back on the ground. "I need some R n' R." Rich, looking at the prone Marine dumfounded, suddenly began chuckling. He continued chuckling as the ship lifted off and barreled through the atmosphere force-field and out into open space. By the time the ship he'd been kept prisoner in exploded from all the 'toys' the CE's left behind, he was laughing like a lunatic. But what was stranger... several of the Marines were laughing along with him and slapping him on the back. He was free. So…here I am.” "Ya, I know plenty about things that sound good at certain times." ~But they don't always end up good~ Will thought, reflecting on the fact that he was engaged once, but left her before heading to the academy, because at the time it sounded good to not expose her to the starfleet life. ~That was a mistake~ “What about you? I know we talked earlier but were you always destined for the command track? You never really did give me an answer to that one,” she said, pointing at him with one of her fries, then popping it into her mouth. Halima was really in the mood for something salty, and the fries were doing the trick. Started of on the Cochrane, was on the ship for a day, then it got mothballed, so I went to the Spectre, but spent a day on the Mystique because the Spectre was being used by the Marines for awhile, then got back to the Spectre and was the CONN and Ops chief. And boy did I love the CONN. After awhile I went from being the 3O, to the 2O, and then here. I wasn't meant to be command so early, I'm less than a year out of the academy, but, the thing is, I don't mind it, and I like to think I earned it. But I have a lot to live up to, there is a lot of CO's on my mom's side of the family." “No one in my family was really ever into Starfleet much. Lets see, played collegiate football, was on the academy debate team, made Lt. I installed a Strat Ops center in the Spectre, and what else. Really, that’s it, if I think of something else I can tell you, but right now, I could use a boring life. Will then took a bite of the chicken sandwhich before him. It was kind of spicy, the way Will liked it. "So tell me something, Lt. Thomas, or may I call you Halima?" (reply Thomas) "Anyways, what about your life, and your career, I'm sure you have probably had interesting things happen that are worth sharing." He would get to console someone he found interesting and above all else, beautiful. But still, if he wanted to impress her, get on her good side, he thought it would be better to stay away from the topic of death, and use his better qualities, and the not so famous, but somewhat well known as better getting close female friends, but with a 30% success rate for getting a date, a little thing known as the Banowsky Charm. Whether it really existed was another question, Will believed it did, some of his friends, and past dates didn't, either way, he was going to try. ~Why not, she did tell me to take some personal time~ "But enough about our careers, tell me a bit about yourself. Not just because he asked, but the way his eyes looked. Something told her that he was possibly interested in her for something more than just being a counselor, but it was still way too early to tell, so she just let things ride as they were. “Let’s see…well there’s not much to tell actually. "Ten torp launchers Forward and aft, and phasser banks on all sides ,oh and some kind of energy shields ive never seen before." Before anyone could say anything Ash said "Oh and there is strong Neutron radiation buildup within the ship." Lookin back at his CO ,Ash asked "Should we engage the ship captain?" On his journey to sick bay, Chance fell and had trouble getting back up; all of a sudden he felt a pair of hands grab him and help him up with a voice, familiar from what seemed like a distant past, saying “I got you skipper, its okay.” “Only a few have ever called ME skipper, and your voice sounds so familiar my friend.” “It should Chance, I fought along side you at the siege of starbase Karoc.” “I wish I could remember your name, but…” The crewman interrupted Chance saying “Don’t worry, you look like your lucky to remember your own name. Now, I’ll get you to sick bay, but you got to get through the door yourself.” With a painful giggle Chance replied “That’ll do fine, just push me so I fall the right direction.” (U.S.S. Mission: Supernatural/Past, Present…Future? Days: 4/2 Stardate: 2407.02.17 (USS Dennison – Science Lab 2 - CSO Bracken-15:20) Dale had called a progress meeting for all duty science staff, She realised that this was the first one with her as CSO rather than ACSO under Trewe. That thought lead to another, that she hadn't seen or spoken to the Lt. since her promotion, she made a mental note to do so as soon as possible. If possible, she was more nervous now than she ever had been during the senior staff meetings, she was now briefing most of her department. It was an odd thought now she came to it, but Dale really didn't have time to dwell on it. "Okay guys, First of all I'm sorry that this meeting is going to be rushed and to the point, we haven't the time for the relaxed, informal one that I'd have liked. Secondly, sorry to pull you all away from what you were doing, but I need to know how things are progressing with the NR research. We're rapidly running out of time to act, something has to be done ASAP." She looked round the room, and caught a few nods of agreement. Checking the PADD that she was carrying. "Okay…Samovski, your team is handling the penatrative data, how are we?" Samovski took a step forward, "thank you sir. Yes, NR is odd stuff, high relative mass, of course, but the penatrative levels increase exponentially in accordance with increase in background levels and the Neutron flux density of the initial source." Dale nodded. "Conclusion? Affect on the ship?" Dale had met Samovski a few times at the academy, he was a decent scientist, but prone to informality that occassionally bordered on the over familiar. "Bluntly 'D', Fresh out of spacedock, and fighting fit, the abaltive armour and our sheilds might have coped with current levels of NR. In our current state, we're screwed sir." He handed Dale a Padd as he drew his conclusion. Again Dale nodded. "I was really dreading that's what you were going to say. Thank you Samovski, to the point as ever." The team laughed. Dale really didn't mind, and indeed preferred the relaxed approach. She knew it irritated the hell out of some officers, but Dale felt it led to a kind of team 'bonding' almost. "Next up, Freeman, Chemical Data, anything?" "Yes Sir. We've found one or two substances that seem to display a much higher than average absorbtion of this type of radiation. Now, currently I have no idea how that information can be deployed in any way that will be of help, but anyway." "Thanks Freeman," She took a Padd off the man, "These substances are?" "Yes, we found that some of the cyclic isomers of Silicon Boron Carbide are way above average in the absorption criteria. Other candidates are on the PADD. Some interesting combinations of the silicides and bucky balls" Dale nodded, "encapsulated Boron Silicides? Not a bad idea, thank you, anything is of use." She stopped. "Freeman, head to Engineering, show them what you have. Stevenson, Biological affects of prolonged NR exposure." Stevenson looked panicky, she had not as yet got over the embarrasement factor of these type of meetings. She felt sorry for the younger officer, it would come with practice, eventually. "Sir…" Stevenson stammered slightly. "Truthfully, We're not really certain. Normal exposure seems to vary, mostly second degree burns, benign carcinomas, that sort of thing. Now, Prolonged, We're probably looking at Fourth degree and beyond most likely, irreparable damage to soft tissues, eyes especially, and malignant carcinomas" "Good report Stevenson." Dale took the offered PADD "It's safe to assume that normal protocols would in some little way help us?" "Probably sir. Second time in how long though that we'll have to innoculate the whole crew?" Dale nodded "I've not forgotten. Look I want you to head up to sickbay, Brief the duty team and CMO Nymes, he should be up there. Tell him I sent you up. Go now." Dale passed the Padd back to the girl, "thank you Stevenson." Dale looked round the room again. "Lastly, Astrometrics. Kulgan, what do we have? Please tell me that I'm wrong and in fact it was the Neutron star and the ship is no threat." "Sorry Sir. I'm afraid that the NR spike that you saw did come from the newcomer. Now, we'll never know the true source of the incident on the telescope, could be the star, but well, you know why it shouldn't be just as well as I do, better probably." Again Dale nodded. "Thanks people, back to it, leave no stone unturned, time is rapidly running out. I'm back on the bridge, anything comes up come straight to see me. Okay everyone? Dismissed." Dale watched as they all left the lab, then followed behind, headed back up to the bridge. Days: 4/2 Stardate: 2407.02.17 (USS Dennison-Personal Quarters-CO Madison Davis-23:48) Madison rubbed her forhead with her right hand. She had been doing so for the past hour trying to go with what orders she thought may be right. Why did this war have to include so many spies, especially of the Federation? It wasn’t as if it were some other species that may have been caught a little easier than that of their own men. After having spoken to West, she was pretty sure she was going to side with his informant’s orders, but yet she still couldn’t bring herself to choose. Should she dare choose between the two and make the wrong decision and possibly lead her crew to it’s own demise? “No,” she said aloud to herself. Madison decided against either of the two orders. Instead, she was going to do a combination of her own, and if there were consequences, then that’s what she would have. Court martial or not for not following SFI’s orders, she would rather be stripped of her command than have everyone die under it. Picking up a padd, she started to draft an outline of her thoughts of action. She didn’t know if West or Banowsky would necessarily like it, but it would have to be. Those two reasons being the most important, there were also minor reasons for leaving. Everyone was sick and tired of doing what they had been doing day in and day out without nothing in return or even getting to participate in activites which would otherwise render them happier if possible. It was like being stuck in a void for several weeks, only in reality it was only several days. But enough was enough for Madison, and so she kept writing plans as they came to her head. Day: 3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (U.S.S. Dennison- Sick Bay- Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious-0035) Chance was lying in bio-bed 3 thinking about the bloody and treacherous days that took place at the Siege of Starbase Ka-roc during the war. The crewman that mentioned that ugly scene Chance had recognized but couldn’t recall his name, fortunately the crewman understood. As he thought about the things he did in that war, Chance was always amazed how the formal military didn’t mind using civilians to achieve victory, but didn’t like to pass the honor and credit on to the civilians for the victory. Ka-roc was such an example. Chance fell asleep thinking about his rediscovered battle-buddy, but that entire scenario as well. As he slept, Temerarious began to dream. The dreams soon turned to nightmares as his mind replayed all the dastardly deeds perpetrated by factions involved; the Cardassians that controlled the Ka-roc space station, the Klingons in charge of overseeing the siege, and the civilian “Buccaneers” conducting the siege. He dreamed about leading a team to board the station to take control of it; the orders he had given and the faces of all those who’s lives were lost because of decisions he made. He dreamed about how the Cardassian commander surrendered the station to one of Temerarious’ fellow privateer captains; how after the formal surrender of Ka-roc station the Klingons attacked the privateers in order to claim the victory and honor without dispute. Chance will never forget what he did after those first shots from the Klingon battleships hit “Go take command of the fleet, I’ll coordinate from here till its time to board one of the battleships, then I’ll lead that group.” He said the one the station was surrendered to. In his dream, as it had at the time, during those first couple of salvos from the Klingon ships, the privateers got slaughtered until discipline and direction took hold of every soul, then the fight really began. It wasn’t a fight for honor, but for survival. The battle had lasted for hours then the few remaining civilian warships pounding away at the battleships with phasers, photon torpedoes, quantum bombs, and disruptors. Finally the privateers caught a break because the shields fell on one of the three battleships and Temerarious didn’t waste anytime getting underway with what was left of his team to board her. Chance dreamed about taking control of the transporter room, beaming privateers in as he beamed almost 80% of the ships crew out into open space in front of the bow of the lead battleship. From the transporter room Temerarious’ company had split into thirds. One to take engineering, a second to patrol the ship and capture or kill any Klingons they found, and Chances group to take the bridge. After being on board fighting for control over the ship for at least an hour; it was finally surrendered to Chance by the highest ranking warrior left onboard, an E-6. On that ship alone Chance felt the responsibility for over 300 deaths and he mourned for every one once the days fighting was over with. As he and his team entered the bridge and took their stations, Chance broadcasted a message starting with his “flag”; it was a subdued plaid (Paisley) with a skull in the upper center with fire in both eye sockets with the Federation emblem under the skull; and all he said was “This ship is now under my command.” Chance dreamed about realizing that even with a boarding party onboard the Klingons still moved the weakened ship behind the other two in order to better protect it from the “pirate” fleet. Temerarious then proceeded to give the orders to open fire on the stern of both of the other battleships. At the end of the day the final outcome was that the Cardassians lost Ka-roc Station in the siege; the Klingons were all but marooned at Ka-roc with the Cardassian prisoners one battleship destroyed, another dead in space, the last taken as a prize by Temerarious, and seven privateer ships and crews dead. (U.S.S. Dennison- Sick Bay- Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious-0530) Chance woke up screaming, breathing heavy, cool, sweating, and frantically looking around. As he realized that he was in the Dennison’s sick bay he started to calm down and relax. He also remembered the crewman that helped him to the sick bay; Terry Walker was his name and at the time he was a weapons specialist and combat engineer. Chance couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing here and now. Chance knew that Commander West was one of his “roomies” when he passed out early afternoon the day before and figured he’d still be there. Well, apparently he was wrong, wasn’t the first time and it won’t be the lat time either. “Hello Doctor; Nurse; Somebody!” (Reply Linok) “Thank God; I need to ask Commander West a question, do you know where he could be?” (Reply Linok) “Oh; well if you see him before I get released could you let him know I asked to see him?. Thanks.” Then Chance just laid back down and stared at the overhead quietly praying asking God’s forgiveness for all the lives he had taken. "I got a call from Engineering earlier this morning and a report was sent to me. Upon reading the results I decided the best course of action would be to disclose this to you." I can't pinpoint in this report who the actual person was but if we assume it was the person who is connected to the location AND command code, we have a problem." ~Dear god don’t let it be someone in a command position,~ was her first thought. She highly doubted it was either Will nor Trevan, but with what was going on outside one could never be too sure. "Sirs, I am not sure if I can tell you but I will hand the data over to you for your decision," Darsons said, then turned a padd over to Madison. At first Madison didn’t want to look down at the padd. She really wanted to know the answer and the person who was responsible as per the evidence available, yet she didn’t as she desperatly hoped there wasn’t another person onboard her ship doing the same thing Porthells did not long ago. Finally being able to tear her eyes from Darsons’ gaze, she looked down at the padd and thumbed through it. As Madison saw the name written on the padd with the access codes from the area the information was accessed through, she was not happy. It wasn’t enough that she had had problems with this person earlier, but now this? And thinking about this combined with what had happened earlier, part of her desperately wondered whether or not it was actually him all along. But then so many questions would be unanswered. Extremely angry and persing her lips together, she handed the padd to Banowsky for him to observe the name rendered on the padd. Turning to Darsons and Semme, she said, “I want you to make sure all your stations are secure. I’m going to have security post a detail in engineering to help watch for any suspicious activity. As of now I don’t want either of you repeating anything you found, the commander and I will take care of the situation.” Pausing, she then said, “And no doubt word will be cast around quickly. Keep an eye out, but don’t make yourselves noticable. I don’t want to put anyone else at risk if it can be helped.” <> “Thanks for the information. You two are dismissed,” she said, and nodded towards Darsons and Semme. After they left, she immediately went off. “I can’t believe this! You would think after all the stuff that’s happened….” She couldn’t even finish her sentence, she was steaming with anger. But she took a deep breath and tried her best to stay calm. Venting to her command staff wasn’t a big deal to her as they were an intimate team. <> “I know…I know. We don’t know that it is him, but still….” Standing up, she paced around the table once with her arms folded. She was no longer interested in the coffee that sat before her earlier and she was far too angry to go back to bed. Having her drug out of bed earlier probably didn’t help contribute to her anger problem at the moment either. Coming back around to where Banowsky was seated, she said, “We can’t just sit on this information either. If it’s correct, we need to get him off duty to keep our people out of harm’s way.” Madison rubbed her temples for a minute, then said, “Take Ensign Divay and a security team to apprehend him…NOW. I don’t appreciate being woke up in the middle of the night…and niether will he,” she said angrily. Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-Conference Room-FO Banowsky-0324) Will was half asleep when he arrived at the conference room, though he was doing a bit better now then when he first arrived. Unlike Captain Davis, he wasn't a fan of coffee, so to give himself a little bit of pep, he was drinking a glass of an old earth soft drink, with a good deal of caffeine, known as Mountain Dew. “Captain, Commander,” Darsons started, addressing them both. "I got a call from Engineering earlier this morning and a report was sent to me. Upon reading the results I decided the best course of action would be to disclose this to you." Will looked at the reports, and did his best in his tired state to understand them. He understood them to a degree, but what Will really wanted was to get back to the dream about being trapped in a runnabout with 3 beautiful women he was having "Sirs, I will bypass the technical details of this report and get to the point as it is quite early in the morning. At some point during the time period of zero-four-hundred hours and sixteen-thirty-five-hours yesterday, someone and I am sure it was a person and not a thing, accessed most of our ships database pertaining to defensive systems and engineering systems." At this point Will was drifting in and out from the meeting details and the dream he was having before the meeting, and being thankful in his dream, that the standard starfleet uniform consisted on lingerie. However at hearing the details of what Lt. Darsons was saying, was enough to bring Will back enough to reality to not be daydreaming about what could have been a very pleasant dream. Will was no fluctuating between a state of intrigue, and anger as to who the person, and why the person was that was accessing the database. I can't pinpoint in this report who the actual person was but if we assume it was the person who is connected to the location AND command code, we have a problem." ~I doubt it’s the captain, but could be commander West, he is SFI, but could he be a Doenitz spy.~ "Sirs, I am not sure if I can tell you but I will hand the data over to you for your decision," Darsons said, then turned a padd over to Madison. Will looked at Madison's face and expressions while she looked at the PADD and from what he could tell, the information was not a good thing. He needs to be thrown in the brig." “I know…I know. We don’t know that it is him, but still….” Standing up, she paced around the table once with her arms folded. Day: 3 Stardate : 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison - Brig - Dr Nymes - 0345) Nymes sighed as he was led to the brig. It was his current host's first walk of infamy, but not so for the symbiont. Ash had done his best to be a hardline security guard, but the tapes from the brig handover room would show him to be sympathetic to the doctor's plight. Nymes had neglected to answer the young man's questions, so lost was he in his recollection of his previous host. It would be all he could do to hope that Ash wouldn't try to spring him out of the brig - that was easily accomplished for most field agents, but Nymes had the benefit of 6 lifetimes to drawn on as well, and personal experience of such an escape. In different times. In darker times. Stepping into the brig, the forcefield whined on, the bright lightilluminating the open wall of his prison cell. Nymes sat - no doubt the stress position would be used later on - and took the hoverball from his pocket, throwing it against the floor & wall, catching it on the return. When Ele saw this, he knew she'd laugh. ~~~RECOLLECTION~~~ (Eletarael II - Theorectical Technologies - Agent Olsandar "Whiskey" Nymes - T+0200) Ol had been through the simulations time and time again, and knew the mission protocol as well as he knew the risks he would be taking. The cover story was in place - his history as a rogue officer in the fleet, his time serving as a Strat-Ops on the USS Helsinki - but the agent knew that he had merged things in his mind - he had two lives; this one, where he was dressed in neat black camoflauge, blacked out tranquiliser gun in a holster on his belt, a camo'd phaser rifle slung over his back, and his "normal" one, with Quinera, the doctor on board the Helsinki. But he did know what he had to do: The abseiling had been the tough part of the insertion process: it had required three separate rope points, and some backwards climbing, to get in position to avoid the sensor sweeps from the compound below. The compound in question was the theorectics lab on Elearael II, or "E-lie" as it was known to the fleet. The plan? Infiltrate the base, plant bugs implicating a foriegn power, steal any pertinent technology, and exfiltrate one of two ways - plan A was the long climb back to the insertion point. Plan B... well, Plan B was trickier. 2 hours into the op and the trill had finally finished the first phase - the long climb down the cliff-face. According to the briefing - and the briefings were usually accurate in these details - the compound would have emergency access hatches a couple of hundred metres from his position. Nymes' sense of danger, heightened anyway due to the adrenaline rush, spiked as he realised that the area was undefended for a reason - either the base's CO was inept, and hadn't guarded this unlikely point of attack, or he had defended it, and Nymes couldn't determine what that defence was. Deep in thought, Nymes decided to break from the plan set out for him, and passive scanned the area with a tricorder, discovering the minefield in front of him. Pressure sensitive mines, with photon charges, and EM linked detonators... things seemed too low tech, but that was the beauty of such a defence mechanism - underestimation. Nymes manuveured around them is the presence of a ghost, inclined as he was to look before he leaped, even if the mission brief was... unsupportive of such action. The trill stealthily shimmied up to the access hatch, using a sonic screwdriver to open one side before dropping into the ventilation duct. (Eletarael II - Inside the Compound - Whiskey Nymes - T+0435) Nymes hit the wall hard, feeling at least one rib break on the impact, his hearing gone completely, his symbiont psychically weeping with pain, but Olsandar carried on, picking himself up and punching the only guard remaining with the butt of the phaser rifle he had "acquired". Klingon weapon prints were all over the compound - the explosives were stolen from a supply depot on the border, and now had been put to "official" use. One tap of a button would bring the compound to it's knees, but Nymes still needed to find the research lab. ~That looks about ri..~ he thought, as he opened up a jefferies tube into a side lab. ~..ight. Grozit.~ It was the last thing he remembered seeing for a considerable amount of time. (Eletarael II - Detention - Whiskey Nymes - T+????) "I am a transferred lab techician, nothing more, sir!" Nymes said, faux-terror dripping off his voice; a trill's inability to keep schtum making his life more perilous by the second. "So we see." his questioner returned, pausing for effect. "But a curiously well armed one, and one we don't seem to be able to scan." ~Grozit~ "I don't know what you mean..." His guards chuckled. "What about this?" Nymes vison spun as his eyes were renched from blackness to searing intenisty of light; followed by a wave of uncontrollable nausea at the sight he saw: his controller lay dead in front of him... "... a sad shuttle accident, you see, Olsandar "Whiskey" Nymes." ~grozit, where'd he get that name...~ "Looks like it. Who's whiskey?" "Don't play games with us, or we will play games with... you, Commander" ~Grozit, and the rank; this is one hell of a blown operation~ "But have it your way for now, and maybe we'll have you back home on the Helsinki." Nymes couldn't control his pupils on that one, his guilt flashing across his eyes, drawing a contented chuckle from the man who stood in front of him. "Yes, it is some SNAFU, Whiskey... always is if you go off piste..." (Eletarael II - Detention - Whiskey Nymes - Some time later - Days? Weeks?) "Tinker.... Tailor.... Soldier... Spy? Wake up mr Tinkerer!" Nymes was plunged into icy water as his guard laughed at his plight. "Its time for a chat." Nymes had been waiting for the moment, blindfolded as he was, deprived of the basics of life for so long, he wasn't sure he'd succeed in escape. Before he was forced to sit down, he was customarily un handcuffed, giving him a split second to act; striking the guard with a ferocity unmatched by any Nymes in his past, disarming him and flicking the safety off his phaser before he had hit the floor. He removed the blindfold to witness a room he would'nt have thought possible. Three officers sat, in their normal, predictable, "civilian standard issue" clothing, at a white table in the secluded room; a door past them gave the narrowest of glimpses of a lab beyond, and a orbital platform being put together. Nymes didn't waste breath on talking. He didn't say "Don't move", he just fired three times, stunning the three guys before they could call reinforcements in, and Nymes legged it through the opened door, aghast at the sheer enormity of the platform: it looked like a relay station of some sort, but the was no time to waste on sight seeing - a guard had found his escape, and alerted the lab to an intruder. Nymes' only route was onto the solar panel of the platform, and inside a access point, hoping against hope that there would be some armory on board, or a teleporter. (Eletarael II - Space Telescope, in lab - Whiskey Nymes - ????) Nymes clumsily fell down through the make shift scaffolding as he traversed the central core of the structure, stopping only to check its computer for any armory - no luck - or escape points - one possible. It was a shuttlepod at the base ofthe telescope, hidden from view, purely as an escape pod. It would have to do. Nymes had no time left, and simply tapped out his SFI code for a Code - Omega niner (or "Oh dear something, someone pick me up now or I'll die!" SNAFU) into the telescopes comm unit, autotransmitting when it was activated. That done, he continued his descent down the to his shuttle. ~theres someone there.~ The klaxons wailed, the red light filtered through a dozen levels of walkways. And there was a figure hunched over a computer terminal by the launch door, concealing his presence with some optical field. Nymes fired, a stun would be good enough to clear his exit, and his detention for however long had changed his judgement; everyone was an enemy until he was debriefed - and even then... The guy fell to his knees, but reciprocated the shot with a more lethal volley of phaser fire; blasting a hole in the shuttle pod, and Nymes' side. The enemy's face was seared into Nymes mind; but the man himself was unconcious, Nymes struggled toclamber into the wounded shuttle, but surprisingly made a swift and uneventful getaway. Three days later, on the Helsinki, Whiskey Nymes was pronounced dead. ~~~.....~~~ (USS Dennison - Brig - Dr Nymes - 0400) ~Why did i never wonder about that? Why didn't I question the escape? It was incredibly easy... I know I died, but i escaped far too easily... is this the fall I was being set up for? All that time ago? "Sorry doc but I got to do this" Ash said before he entered his security override code to access all of doctor Nymes's personal files and data. [ACESSES GRANTED-Security Override Code Accepted] The screen displayed for 2 seconds before displaying the list of files. Ash quickly skimmed through the list, his eyes picking up words in file names that might suggest something interesting like War, Weapons, Intelligence, command, Tactical, Security, Codes and similar words. Ash had developed this skill some years back while still in military school ,often bored of things he already knew, he would sit in the library reading up on past wars, weapons, and great generals. Often he would search huge lists for articles and stories that might be of interest to him ,thus training his eyes to pick up certain words very quickly in a fast moving list helped. "What's this" Ash said, noticing a file name in the list. [Den cmd codes.dat] the file name read ~It cant be ~Ash thought and hoped. Touching the screen he opened the file. What he saw next shocked him, The file contained most of the command codes for the ship. He couldn't tell if other codes were correct but he recognized some of the Tactical and security codes. Ash quickly copied the data to a padd hoping to examine it later. ~why would a spy or a agent be so careless, its almost like this file was left here for someone to find.~ Ash contemplated Ash then used his security authorization to erase his own trail before leaving the Doc's quarters. ~Your playing a dangerous game mister~ He reminded himself as he made his way to the turbo lift. "Mister Divay, I told you to report here on the double, it should not have taken you five minutes to get here," stated Trevan without looking at Divay. Ash realized at this point ,that he was standing a full five feet away from the desk but before he could walk closer West noticed this and yelled "Stand before me at attention," and pointed to the end of the desk. Ash knew he was in some kind of troble and the best thing to do was stay shut . Before he could speak Trevan slipped into his best command mode, "Mister Divay, from your crew evaluations and my own personal observations of your work, you are an outstanding officer and I consider it an honour to have you aboard this ship." He said to Ash who felt a strange about the whole thing ~Are they going to promote me ?~Divay wondered "Sir, Its an honor to be here! Sir!" Divay responded in his best Marine voice. "At ease," Trevan said. Ash relaxed his shoulders but still stood in Semi attention pos. "Aye Sir,Thank you"He responded Trevan went on to explain the situation to Ash and it seemed he understood what was happening on board. "I am glad you understand." "Ensign, I am sorry to do this but," and he rose to meet his gaze, "as of this time on Stardate 2407.02.18 I am temporarily relieving you of your Security duties on the Dennison until further notice. You will still assume your Tactical position on the Bridge. Mr. Tarapik or someone else will handle security for the time being." All she wanted was a good cup of coffee and a small bagel to get something into her stomach so it wouldn’t be too upset the rest of the day until lunch. <> Stepping up to the replicator, she placed her order, to which was materialized before her. Madison took her two items then sat down on his couch next to him, padd also in hand. Taking a few sips of her coffee before she began, she said, “First off, we’ve discovered something that may not only interest you as 20 of the Dennison, but also as Intel. This morning at 0310 I was woken up to somewhat of an urgent call reguarding engineering and tacitcal. It seems someone has been tampering with those systems, and that someone…at least with the command code that was registered, was Dr. Nymes.” <> Shrugging, Madison replied, “Well I didn’t think so either. Especially after his demotion and fight with you on the bridge….who knows. If it was him maybe all that just pushed him over the edge.” Now into deeper thought on the matter, she took a few more drinks of her coffee, then tried to get back into the other business she had orginally came for. <> “That’s just one reason…and the main reason…I look like hell. This is the other reason,” she said, laying the padd before West. On the padd it included her main plan of events that had no correlation whatsoever to either Admiral’s direct order. Instead, her plan included destroying the telescope and moving on to the next sector, a general idea anyway. <> “I know I know…but look at it this way, if the telescope wasn’t around NO one could use it. Of coarse that wouldn’t be that great of an idea for our side, but compared to all these spies using it as means for communication back to the main fleet….I’d rather destroy it then help them get a leg up on this war.” <> Madison took a bite of her bagel, then a sip of her coffee. It tasted so good to her, especially then since she had been up for so long. “Anyways, since you’ll be under the weather for awhile, I thought I would give you the details on what’s been going on. It took him a moment to place everything back on the table and tidy up a bit as the chime rang again. "Enter," he spoke. The doors opened to reveal a very worn looking Captain Davis. “Sorry to disturb you so early…looks like neither of us had a good night,” she said as she walked past him into his quarters. “May I?” She asked, referring to the replicator. Trevan shook his head, "No, not at all sir. Be my guest please." As he was waiting for her to retrieve her items and have a seat, thought of horrible things ran through his mind, wondering what prompted a personal visit from the Captain. Before he had a chance to ask, he found out as the Captain finished a sip of her coffee. “First off, we’ve discovered something that may not only interest you as 20 of the Dennison, but also as Intel. This morning at 0310 I was woken up to somewhat of an urgent call regarding engineering and tactical. It seems someone has been tampering with those systems, and that someone…at least with the command code that was registered, was Dr. Nymes.” "WHAT?!" was all that came out, he didn't mean it to come out like that he was trying to think it rather than speak it, " With all due respect sir, I don't think the Doctor would be the culprit." Shrugging, Madison replied, “Well I didn’t think so either. Especially after his demotion and fight with you on the bridge….who knows. If it was him maybe all that just pushed him over the edge.” "Possibly, but still when someone gets stressed out the first thing they don't do is start fudging around in a tactical and engineering database. If I do recall though, he mentioned to me ages ago that him or a previous host had been in Intelligence so I guess it is possible that he could have gained access," he paused thinking, "but to use his own command codes?" he asked but wasn't expecting an answer and he didn't get one. “That’s just one reason…and the main reason…I look like hell. This is the other reason,” she said, laying the padd before West. On the padd it included her main plan of events that had no correlation whatsoever to either Admiral’s direct order. Instead, her plan included destroying the telescope and moving on to the next sector, a general idea anyway. Instantly Trevan was on edge and didn't like it one bit, "Sir, these are our orders. Conflicting as they may be," he stated, "We need this telescope and it is of the upmost importance to keep it intact and on our side." “I know I know…but look at it this way, if the telescope wasn’t around NO one could use it. Of coarse that wouldn’t be that great of an idea for our side, but compared to all these spies using it as means for communication back to the main fleet….I’d rather destroy it then help them get a leg up on this war.” Trevan agreed with her point, it was valid. "Agreed but these were my orders. I will follow your orders sir, but I will note my objections in my log officially." This was starting to get ugly, not only was he torn between following his orders from SFI and his own Captain but the fact that his original orders when he boarded the Dennison were to follow any order from SFI first before all others. “Anyways, since you’ll be under the weather for awhile, I thought I would give you the details on what’s been going on. Either Will or I will be interrogating Nymes later in the morning, and I need to get a few people working in sickbay to check out the ‘damage’ so to speak. Nothing against Lt. I have the knowledge but she has the skills required. If there is something to be found, even hidden so far in the computer that no-one could ever find it, she could." he stated very firmly. "Permission to speak freely Captain?" (reply Davis) "Thank you." he began, "I know I am on restricted duty but I would like to be present at all interrogations, it would help me understand who he, or anyone, is working for, if they are indeed working for someone. Also, I would be able to determine in a moment if, assuming it is Doctor Nymes that is actually guilty, if he is working with the enemy or some other faction or entity entirely." Surprised by having had to name Nymes, he didn’t look thrilled, in fact Madison thought maybe he felt sorry for Nymes. In a way she did too. He had already been through enough hoops in the past few days…possibly more than the rest of them had faced thus far. "Permission to speak freely Captain?" Nodding, she took another bite of her bagel. "Thank you." he began, "I know I am on restricted duty but I would like to be present at all interrogations, it would help me understand who he, or anyone, is working for, if they are indeed working for someone. Swallowing the bite she had taken of her bagel, she wiped her hands on the napkin that she had also swiped earlier and said, “I’ll let you be there during the interrogations, but nothing more until you’re fully healed. Besides, I’m sure Nymes won’t like seeing you on your feet so soon,” she said, grinning. It just dawned on her how much more they could probably learn by seeing his reactions to having West up and about on his feet. Not the smartest idea for a tactic, though she didn’t exactly consider that much of one to begin with. After all, it was West’s idea that he wanted to be there, not hers. "Thank you. I promise not to over exert myself at least for today anyway." “Yes yes, I’m sure you won’t,” she said smartly. “That’s what they all say.” Eyeing him, she gave him a flash of what little of a smile she could serve him that early in the morning. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go wake Will up and see what his plans are for the day. Day: 3 Stardate : 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison – Quarters, Commander Trevan West, 0830) Trevan sat and pondered the situation carefully for almost an hour before deciding on a course of action. He didn't like it, but hell, it was a matter of duty and honour that he did it. (USS Dennison, Ready Room, Commander Trevan West, 0840) Trevan waited patiently outside the doors of the ready room, knowing full well most of the Bridge was watching him, or was it just his imagination? The call came to enter and as he did so he could see a very tired looking Captain Davis sitting at her desk, probably on her eighth cup of coffee this morning. Not wanting to pull any punches, Trevan got to the heart of the matter. "Captain sir, I have thought about this very carefully and I would like permission to oversee the investigation." It wasn't a question, nor was he telling her what to do. It was just what needed to be said. “Commander, you have already been through a great ordeal. What you need to do is rest.” She replied. "I understand sir, but when you think about it, it really is a SFI matter at the moment anyway. I would like permission to draw up a team that I know can get the job done." Sighing, she thought for a moment, then said, “Fine. But I’m still going to be checking on your progress. As far as the list of people go…” but she was cut off. Trevan shook his head at the reply, "No need Captain, I have already prepared a list." Upon giving her the list he instantly could see the reaction to it, and was expecting it. "I have drawn these names based on their work experience, crew evaluations and their involvement with the accused." "No one having any personal connection with Doctor Nymes should be allowed on the investigation team, myself included. I will oversee but ultimately report to you and will follow any orders given. At the moment based on my observations of the crew, our head of Security is the top of my list of people with the most personal connection." Shaking her head as she scrolled the list, she said, “Yes, I think you’re right about Mr. Divay. Make sure he stays out of this matter. The last thing I need him to do is put himself in jeapordy over someone else that might ruin his career.” “I would like to restrict access to Sickbay to anyone not requiring major medical treatment and if they do require access to sickbay, they are to be escorted at all times by two guards. I am not taking any chances. I want that area secure so no contamination of the scene can occur. I already have Darsons and her team collecting evidence as we speak. The science department will be ready to go in less than two hours after." “Good. Sounds like you have everything worked out. Now, speaking of science…I’m not sure if Bracken has any connections with Nymes or not. I was thinking she did, so you may want to keep your eye on her too.” It was horrible. There the two sat and went over people who were good and not so good for the interrogation of Nymes as well as people who could possibly be in on trying to help him. Madison didn’t like to be the one to point fingers, but she had to follow the trail of evidence. Day: 3 Stardate : 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison - Ready Room - Commander Trevan West- 0856) After leaving the Ready Room, Trevan walked across the Bridge and directly into the lift. Once the doors had closed it began its journey towards Sickbay. "West to Darsons, I hope you have some information for me. I'll be arriving in about five minutes." Darsons stated her reply, "I do indeed have some preliminary information for you. Darsons out." The area around Sickbay did not look any different than normal, except for the two guards at the door. Upon seeing West, the guards allowed him to pass and walk into Sickbay. Numerous people were milling about, nurses, security officers and engineers. It was an unusual sight to say the least. Trevan walked over to one of the guards and spoke to him very quickly, going over some of the information he had. "Attention everyone, as of right now, anyone not requiring immediate medical treatment will be turned away until the investigation team is complete. Any urgent medical needs can be taken care of here under guard and the recovery room is off limits to all but the investigation team." Trevan looked over at the on duty nurse, "Don't worry, I am setting up a recovery room in conference room four, one deck below. Site-to-site transport is standing by if needed." Trevan went on to explain all the important security details and then made his way over towards Haley. "So you said you had information for me," he asked. Haley handed him a PADD but gave him the quick ad dirty of it, "As I said, it's preliminary but from what we can gather, this," she said referring to a display unit encased in a class three stasis unit and the one Trevan had used earlier, "was the unit that was used to access the information. DNA results show two users of the panel during the time in question. Yourself, and the Doctor." She hit a button on the PADD and up came the DNA results, "As you can see, molecular decay shows that the person used the device during the time of about fifteen thirty hours yesterday. The computer can confirm that Doctor Nymes was in the area of this terminal at this time. You were not, however you were the last to use it. Seeing as you were un-conscious at the time, I don;t see how you could have used it. Your commbadge was logged as being stationary the entire time." Again going over the data in his hands, Trevan could see this was not looking good for the Doctor's case. All the evidence so far points to him, however, Trevan knew that only once all the evidence was in, will it tell the truth. "This isn't looking good." she said to him quietly. Trevan smiled, "As a Vulcan Captain of mine once said, 'There are always, possibilities." and cocked his eyebrow in best Vulcan fashion. Haley laughed at that but only slightly. "Make sure the Captain gets this report as well. Let me know as soon as you are done so the science team can analyze everything collected. I want to make sure you haven't overlooked anything. If there is so much as a nano-fiber from someone else, I want to know about it and have it checked out." Trevan looked around once again, "Ok all you security guys that don't need to be here, out you go. This is Sickbay still, not a Vole fight, out ya go." "If you need me, I'll be around." and gave her a quick pat on the back before heading out to the interrogation. Looking over the list of people West had dropped off not more than 15 minutes ago, she was interupted by the chime at her door. “Come,” she said, irritatingly. It was already going to be ‘one of those days’ and Madison knew she would have to keep up with the current situation as it unfolded. Expecting it to be someone else, she was surprised when she looked up and saw that it was Ensign Bracken. “Captain.” She started, but paused as if she were trying to gather courage or thoughts to appraoch her with. “Captain, I’m to understand that Dr .Nymes has been arrested for…spying?” Sighing, Madison replied, “I see word travels fast around this ship.” “Sir, I’m here to express my doubts about the accusations, and request to be assigned as part of Dr Nymes’ defense counsel. Captain, my request is based on the fact that other that yourself, and the two Commanders, and discounting those transposed from the Beowulf, as both Ensign(sg) and CSO, I am the highest ranking officer currently assigned to the Dennison. Also…” She stopped, aware that she were in danger of babbling. “Captain, I’m concerned that this smells awfully like a repeat of the Porthells incident.” Squinting with her head cocked to the side, she could see the uneasiness in Bracken. Madison didn’t want her crew to feel like they had to fear for their lives everytime they had to talk to her personally. She almost remembered the days when she felt the same way. Looking at Bracken up and down she wasn’t sure whether to assign her to this or not. Putting her cup of coffee down on the desk and standing up, she came out from behind her desk. “Ensign…for now I will tell you that I will give your request some thought. Commander West is handling most of this, albeit against my wishes of him getting well. However…I fear your assumption may also be true,” she said, hoping to surpise Bracken a little bit. She didn’t bite…~Well, most of the time,~ …and she wanted Bracken to know as much. “I understand your reasons for wanting to do this. But I will tell you upfront that I do express some concern since the two of you seem close in friendship.” Holding up her hand to stop her upcoming comment, she continued, “But I know that’s also never stopped anyone else from fulfilling their duties in the past.” <> “I’ll have a decision for you within the hour. Day: 3 Stardate : 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison - Sickbay- Commander Trevan West- 0859) As Trevan left Sickbay, he could see the rest of the dismissed crew leaving the opposite way towards whatever duties they had. Trevan on the other hand, headed towards the interrogation room. As he walked he closely read the PADD that was given to him and was considering his options. He must have been too busy reading to notice that he had walked almost thirty meters past the turbolift and ended up in another section. Checking with the computer for the time, he realized he was cutting things close and he had other matters to deal with. "West to Captain Davis and Commander Banowsky, I apologize but I will be detained for a little while. I will be no longer than fifteen minutes late arriving." (reply Davis, Banowsky) Trevan decided to head towards his own office before he did anything else. (USS Dennison, SFI Office, Commander Trevan West, 0903) Sitting in his office, he took a moment to collect himself, closing his eyes and rubbing his temples to rid himself of a slight headache. "West to Ensign Divay, report to my office on the double." After closing the channel he again contacted the Captain and told her that he was following up with the plans they had discussed earlier. "No need Captain, I think things will be fine." (reply Davis) After about five minutes the chime on his door rang as he was just trying to rid the headache, "Come in, come in," he said in his most agitated tone. Before him stood Ash Divay, all five foot nine of him. Although he looked small, he had seen him in action and knew that there was a man of at least six feet and twice the weight inside that small frame looking at him from those deep black eyes. "Mister Divay, I told you to report here on the double, it should not have taken you five minutes to get here," stated Trevan but had not looked up from his desk yet. When he had, he could see that Divay was at least five feet away from him, "Stand before me at attention," and pointed to the end of the desk. Before he could speak Trevan slipped into his best command mode, "Mister Divay, from your crew evaluations and my own personal observations of your work, you are an outstanding officer and I consider it an honour to have you aboard this ship." (reply Divay) "At ease," he said. (reply Divay) Trevan went on to explain the situation to Ash and it seemed he understood what was happening on board. Mr. Tarapik or someone else will handle security for the time being." And then as if he had flipped a switch in his mind, "I am sorry to do this but you understand, you are too close to the suspect at this time and we need level heads on this. When this ordeal is over, you will be assigned back to security." (reply Divay) "I understand you objections and have noted them, but this had been cleared by Captain Davis. Dismissed." said Trevan and then sat back down at his desk. (reply Divay) A moment later, he looked up to see a shocked Divay still standing before him, "Ensign, is the Tactical station still on the Bridge?" "Then why are you still here." and ended the conversation with that comment. Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-Brig, Interrogation One-Dr Nymes-09:00) Nymes sat impassively at the table in the centre of the room; not slouching, not overly relaxed, but not tense or figetting. He had been in the room for a good few minutes; he was well aware that the inquisition would be watching him on the monitors outside; Nymes could name three of the hidden people without pausing for thought: Davis, firebrand that she was, would be there; Banowsky, fledgling of command, probably ready to throw the book at him from 50 decks away; and against his wishes, the sardonic wit of the trill placed Commander West in that group. There was a lone security guard stationed in the room, Charlie McCathry, one of the ones who had been so kind to escort him to this brig earlier on. Nymes didn't give the unseen posse a way in; at least not with that wedge, by refusing to talk to the guard. It would be the most difficult interrogation that Davis, Banowsky and Co would undertake, questioning a colleague, a friend... that's where emotion, betrayal, and jumped conclusions and bias came home to roost. Nymes contemplated his immediate future: he was being set up; for purpose unknown, by enemy unforeseen. It could have been a ploy by a desparate enemy of the 52nd, a Doenitz retaliation for Nymes' involvement in the Porthells' Affair; it could be a general housekeeping call by Intel for the horrendous aftermath of Operation Tenacity. Hell, it could just be a random character assassination for the hell of it; or a training exercise for the junior staff. The one thing that factored into the Trill's mind was the newcomers. Only the CO had been to medical, Commander Loyola, alcoholic. Of the others there had been little involvement - too much like non-entities, too much like statistics. Myr had been a welcome distraction, but had gone to ground. That left Darsons, and three others - a counsellor, and a couple of ragtag survivors. No clues to the character, and still Nymes had an incredibly long list of suspects: West, Loyola, Darsons, SFI, Doenitz, and others... and no trust in anyone at all, except Night and Bracken. Ash may be loyal, but Nymes knew that he was still green when it came to political situations, and this whole charade struck him as political through and through. As for the captain, was this a mole hunt? Was the demotion part and parcel of the whole thing? At the same time Lewis' mind was working out the probability that he would be needed at some point during his incarceration to be the medic to the ship. West needed observation; if Nymes had his way, the commander would be on enforced shore leave for recuperation for a month, but he had been contented to show off in surgery, to the possible detriment to his career and West's life. Sammy Ulston was still a casanova of the lower decks, but even he needed a follow up on his traumatic injury in the holodecks. And as for Chance? Hell, Nymes was happy that the Ops man had been stabilised, even if he wouldn't be piloting the hawk for a while - anyone with decompression injuries like that had to be floating in a tin can that hadn't just been squashed, but smacked open with a photon or seven. Nymes' would be surprised if there was more than a metre of deckplate unscathed. Waiting for the interrogation to begin, Nymes fell back to his memory of the Helsinki. ~~~RECOLLECTION~~~ (USS Helsinki - Briefing room - Olsandar Nymes - T-0200) "So that's the game plan. Infiltrate from the rock face, gain access to the main lab, download the database and plant fake evidence, followed by a hot-exfiltration to Alpha point... roger that sir. "I assume Control will remain in situ for T+10?" The screen didn't show a face, just the SFI//Classified insignia. Impassively, it replied. "T+4." ~Well that'll be fun.~ "Operation Tenacity remains highly classified. Only three people know of its existance; the operative, the control, and myself. You have a go for T-0 launch. OUT." ~~~....~~~ A rueful smile crossed the doctor's face as the door finally opened and the guard was replaced by his questioner. "I didn't expect it to be you, sir." Nymes acknowledged, as the interrogator walked in. The bridge was relatively calm - the night shift was unremarkable, though there had been some meeting arranged in the wee small hours of the brass. As the morning hit 0600, the early day shift had arrived as per usual, and Ele had taken her role as ACONN on, accessing the CONN logs from her position on the bridge, looking over the repair schedule for both the Topaz and the Hawk. Looking at both of them, it seemed like it would be weeks for the replicators to finish work on the bulkheads alone; Ele was surprised the hawk had managed to remain in one piece long enough for Chance to have survived, especially since there was little left of the vessel apart from the lifeboat and half a nacelle. At least there was something for the Engineers to do, what with the holodecks and two shuttles to repair. Ele knew that, with Chance currently in sickbay, or medical leave, she was currently serving two mistresses - Ops and Conn; and thus techically working out the duty rotas - though she had left them as they had been worked out before this had all started. Slapping the badge on her chest, she replied, “Don’t worry about it, I’m a little late myself,” as she gritted the end of her sentence. “Davis out.” Still inside the turbolift, she paced circles around and around. It wasn’t making her dizzy, but she was glad she was alone for the time being so she could have a moment to collect her thoughts for the interrogation and get in the mood to persue the matter. But of coarse whenever she was in deep thought a distraction would always occur. “Temerarious to Davis,” came Chance’s voice. “Ma’am, Conference Room 4 has become a temporary recovery room but it doesn’t have a head of its own and I don’t know were the nearest one is. So unless you want me to pee in a waist basket please override the computer to give me directions to the nearest head.” Stopping immediately in mid-pace, she furrowed her brow as she thought, ~Head? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of one referred to in that way.~ Madison made the mental note to ask him about it later. “There should be one close to the exit, but around the corner to your right,” she said, thinking of the direction in her head from where he must have been coming from. She had to admit…giving directions to a bathroom was a first for her. “Thanks, but can you unlock the door also ma’am?” Sighing, she said, “Computer, override lockout of conference room 4 lavatory, authorization delta-1-1-4 omega. You should be able to go now,” she added humerously. “Thank you Captain!” “Davis out,” she said, then realized the whole situation had actually put a bit of a smile on her face…the opposite of what she had been trying to prepare for. ~Who in their right mind would put a lockout on a lavatory anyways?~ Of coarse Starfleet would have done something like that to prevent people from hiding in them when they needed to lock down the ship tighter than usual, but come on…no one would be able to use one this way unless she put herself on recorded audio. As the turbolift stopped, Davis stepped out. She was on the right deck, now all she needed to do was head for the cell in which Nymes was incarcerated. Looking directly at the Doctor he could see he was steaming mad, either about being questioned or about seeing him there. After all, he was on restricted duty. He stood up and took a step forward towards the Doctor, but still remained next to Captain Davis, "If I may, I have some new information to provide. He looked at all of them before revealing what he had learned over the past few hours, " According to the investigation team in Sickbay, we have isolated the area and device that were used to obtain data." he stated. Not waiting for anyone to interrupt him he continued to explain that the investigation team had discovered that the Doctor's own personal display unit was used to access the computer data between zero four-hundred and sixteen thirty-five hours on the day in question. "DNA analysis shows two possible users that had access to the display unit, however only one of them was seen and recorded as using it. One being myself. DNA does not lie, and you were the last person to use it prior to myself. As for your nurse, she can remember you being in Sickbay on that day, but as we are well aware by your own admission, one of your previous hosts did work for SFI and that would allow you the memories of how to bypass certain systems." Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-Interrogation Room-CO Madison Davis-09:20) “Did you go back to sickbay anytime between the time you left and the time Divay took you into custody?” "No." he answered, impassively. He looked to the corner of the brig, where he knew the camera was running. "I'm not that tenacious." Technicially Madison could understand the implications that were against him. After all he had just gone through it not long ago…yet for some reason everyone seemed to be wanting to frame Nymes. ~Why?~ There had to be some reason why and she just wasn’t seeing it. About to ask more questions, West finally entered the room and came to Madison with the new information he had asked to gather. "If I may, I have some new information to provide.” Nodding, she let him have the floor. "DNA analysis shows two possible users that had access to the display unit, however only one of them was seen and recorded as using it. One being myself. Did you perform un-necessary surgery during that time, and did you perform any other operations on me during my surgery?” Madison looked a bit surprised herself. She never knew just how good West was at his job, but his true colors were finally starting to shine. "I did not carry out any unnecessary operations, Trevan." "According to the EMH, I should have been in surgery for no longer than forty-five minutes, according to your own logs, I was in surgery for over an hour. You still haven't explained why that is." A padd was then handed to Madison from West containing the results Darsons had given him from the tests and scans that were conducted. She lightly leafed through it as she payed most of her attention on the interrogation. "Oh and one more thing Doctor. We managed to recover the user codes to unlock the display and access the data, voice print ID confirms you. Computer, replay voice command authorization from investigation file three three six." The computer chirped as it accessed the information, when it did the familiar voice of Doctor Lewis Nymes came out of the speakers above. Pausing, he said, "We have not received the Engineering reports yet for that, but they will be here shortly." Cocking her head to the side, Madison was realizing that both West and Nymes had brought good points to the table. It was then that West came up beside her and whispered into her ear. Raising her right eyebrow, she could see where West was leading. Of coarse no one else in the room knew, but it still served their purpose. "Oh and one more thing Doctor." and then Trevan put his command voice into action. "I am your superior officer on this ship, you will never address me as MISTER again! As for calling me Trevan, that is not how one address a superior officer. You will call me Commander or sir." "I was under the impression, as a prisoner without cause, I could address you how I wish." "Mr. Nymes, your not a prisoner without cause, there was a cause for why we detained you. There was evidence and proof that pointed us in your direction. So Mr. Nymes, there was cause you are being held with cause. And as long as your being held with cause, and as long as you are wearing that uniform, you will address myself, Captain Davis, and Commander West as by the appropriate title." "As shall you, Lieutenant Commander." “Gentlemen…” Madison interjected, standing up. Once it was quiet, she said, “Lets move on.” "We really want to get the bottom of this Mr. Nymes, we really do, there are things we much rather be doing that sit here and interrogate you. We would rather have you in sickbay doing your job." It was then that Banowsky finally interjected as well. "But Dr. Nymes, these are serious charges, and must be investigated fully, and we would like your help on this. But the problem Mr. Nymes is your attitude. You aren't helping your self here, in fact you have done nothing but convince me of your guilt, not just through the evidence but your attitude. You see Dr. Nymes you are acting like a guilty person, by spouting out and Commander West like that. In fact you see, you have done nothing but belittle Commander West's authority since he arrived on board the Dennison. So help us out here Mr. Nymes, if you are innocent then help us out, and if you are guilty, the God have mercy on your soul." "I would really like for you to get back to duty Dr. Nymes, so please if you didn't do this, then tell me who you think did, I'm interested in your opinion." "Nothing but belittle? Now lets have the facts, shall we, Lieutenant Commander? What really happened on the bridge which caused my demotion? "Primo Non Nocere" Commander West was intent on using a risky strategy to close a "wormhole". Even if we accept that it existed as fact, we know that there are other ways to close artificial wormholes, and thats how we should have proceeded - eliminating the risk to the ship, its crew and all other entities involved." Nymes voice was reasoned and assured. "I presented the alternative idea, as a first officer is expected, nay, required to do, to allow the CO to make a choice between courses of action. Instead of welcoming the idea, the Commander carried on blinkered by his obvious "might is right" attitude. Had the CO been on the bridge, she would have listened to the argument fully, and you, Lieutenant Commander," Nymes pointed at the FO, "would have presented the same argument to the Captain." Madison was starting to see where this was heading, and she didn’t like it at all. She knew Nymes had the right to be angry with what was happening to him, and in her mind she would be too if the finger were pointed at her. That still didn’t matter as the ‘wormhole’ matter was entered into the discussion. "And as for my loyalties, I am insulted that you'd think I am disloyal - have you forgotton the attempt on MY life in the last few weeks? I didn't see you trying to save the admiral's life! I've patched up every member of this crew, some of them more than once, and still I am questioned by zealous children. My attitude, Commander, is one of an incredulous professional: I expected more of this interrogation, I really did; especially with an Intel in the room. But perhaps that is the crux of the problem." “Enough!” She finally shouted. Then, addressing the entire room, she said, “We’re here to question the evidence against Nymes…that’s all.” Then looking at Nymes, she said, “And we’re here to discuss this current situation, not past situations. I won’t say that I understand what you’re feeling exactly, but I have a pretty good idea. Lets stick to the current subject matter, shall we gentlemen?” As they all stopped talking, the whole room went silent. Everyone just needed to settle down from the heated discussions that were beginning to rise into arguments and finger pointing. "There are a number of people who could attempt to do something like this, who would revel to see the Nymes trill in the brig, out of the way. I have my suspicions, and ghosts enough in my past." he said quietly, "But to divulge them would be useless without proof. Review these logs - you have enough breadcrumbs to start an investigation." "I was under the impression, as a prisoner without cause, I could address you how I wish." ~~~ (Deep Space Training Facility - Briefing One - Olsandar Nymes - 0200) "One more thing, Agent. You may encounter counter-espionage protocols during this mission. They'll use drugs, torture and familiarity with you if captured, in an attempt to know what you know. Use your own guile to reverse the situation to buy time, and feed misinformation as if it was real. If captured, you will be on your own. No heroic rescue party, and you will be disavowed." ~~~ Nymes, at least, had a course of action. The ship was compromised. That meant he needed to clear his name, but first to escape to a safer, more innocent area - off the ship. Only then would he be able to work to clear his name, but getting out of the brig, with security guards swarming around the traitor with phasers drawn, wasn't going to be easy. Nymes steeled himself to play his persona the way it was so far - innocent ( well, at least that was true) and compliant, showing no outward signs of planning an escape. But where would he go? Tenacity must have been the reason to take out Nymes. The operation was before the civil war, SFI had split down the seams, so Doenitz could have theorectically found out about the operation, especially the use of the long range telescope that the 52nd was now using for Intel traffic. Nymes was a useful fall man for infiltrating the ship for that information, but only Nymes knew the interior layout of the telescopes shell - it would have been completed a long time ago, but Nymes knew what lay at the bottom of that beast. ~When the time comes~ (Reply all) (posted by GC) ============================================================================================== Mission: Supernatural/Past, Present.Future? "Now, since everything points to you, what would you think?" he asked not expecting a reply. "I think you are being played, and played well. Who overviewed this PADD? You, Commander?" Day: 3 Stardate : 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison – Science Lab Two - CSO Bracken - 0930) “Okay people listen up.” Dale stood at the front of the lab. The duty team eventually finished the conversations that they were having and the room gradually fell to silence, all attention falling to Dale. “Duty teams are to remain as yesterday, with a couple of minor changes that I’ll go into momentarily. Research is to carry as it was yesterday.” Dale looked down at the PADD in front of her. “Astrometrics, I want you to continue looking at the neutron flux mechanism of the nearby neutron star – lets use the opportunity while we have it. Chemical team – carry on working with engineering looking at the possibilities of shielding us against the neutron radiation. We can only assume that we’re going to come across it again, so let’s be prepared. Xenobiology, ditto, we have some candidate chemicals that have shown to absorb the NR effectively, so work with our medical team, see if you can come up with something, anything that will help keep us alive.” Dale stopped, taking a moment ot look around the lab at her staff. When she was ACSO she had considered herself merely one of Trewe’s team, albeit a senior member of that team, now however, that team was hers, hers to Command. Dale was beginning to feel herself expand into the role of CSO, of Command. New as she was to the position, she still felt slightly uncertain about stepping into Trewe’s shoes, but she would sure as hell give it her all. “Okay guys you have your orders, two things remain, firstly,” Dale paused again, “we can’t afford to relax, as time goes on we’re moving more and more into territory that will put us, the crew and the ship into serious danger. Case in point the radiation scares that we’ve had recently. It’s up to us, in this department, to keep this ship at the pinnacle of scientific research, we have to keep coming up with new, better ways of protecting ourselves and this ship, as you all know, we can’t afford to relax, at all. If we are to win this war, it will be in the labs that you and I work in that the difference will be made.” Dale saw this sink in, some looked nervous, others however, she could see steeling themselves, ready to get working and begin to make a difference. “Secondly, I need to see Freeman and Stevenson at the end of this briefing. Dismissed” Dale watched as the science team left the lab, leaving the three of them alone. “Problem Sir?” Stevenson asked. In many ways, Mary Stevenson reminded Dale of how she had been just a few short months ago. Uncertain, Unconfident, and too quick to assume that if a senior officer wanted a quiet word, it was because there was a problem with her work. “Not at all. Quite the opposite. Commander West has a special assignment for us, and he asked me to pick my two best officers.” She saw the flush spread across both their faces. “Thank you sir” they both replied. “what does It entail?” Ens Freeman asked. “At the moment I don’t know anything Mike. All I know is at 1200 there’s going to be a breifing in my office between you guys, myself and the Commander. Now, as you know, Commander West is not only our 2O, he’s also an Intel Officer, as such we can assume that this task has some kind of secrecy about it. Therefore, I don’t must impress upon you the implications of this. This matter must not be discussed to anyone apart from each other, me or the Commander. The penalties for breaking secrecy are more severe than you can possibly imagine Is that clear?” She saw them both nod quietly. “Now I trust both of you, that’s why you’re here. Be in my office at 1155, and we’ll find out what the Commander has in store for us. Any questions?” “No Sir.” They both replied. “Dismissed” Dale was left alone in the lab as they left. On a whim, she turned heading for her office, hitting her commbadge as she walked. Her mind had wandered toward Ash, she began to wander how his search was going, but needed a way to call him without drawing attention to him. A half idea struck her, it was weak, but as good as any. “Bracken to Divay, Please report to my office, there’s some tactical data here from yesterday that I can’t figure out.” (Reply Ash) (Posted by Mark) =============================================================================================== NRPG : thanks for helping me back in the fun Mark RPG : Mission : Supernatural Day: 5 Mission : Past, Present…Future? Madison could tell that West was starting to get ahead of himself. She was almost agreeing with what Nymes had said about being ‘convicted,’ even though that was not true. The elevation of anger in West’s voice was starting to show more and more and she knew that with Nymes’ whitty comebacks it would be a neverending drama between the two. "I think you are being played, and played well. Who overviewed this PADD? You, Commander?" As for your entire past, Operation Tenacity is classified and even bringing it up is a violation of orders." ~A pissing match,~ she thought to herself. West had begged her to be able to be a part of the investigation and to be the interrogator. He was doing a great job, and she knew in her heart that part of his anger was being forced in an attempt to try and break Nymes down if at all possible. But it didn’t seem to work in their favor, as all it did was piss off Nymes that much more, rendering both sides stuck in square one. It was then, Nymes looked at her and asked, "May I ask you a question, Captain. Prior to all this; prior to your incarceration in the holodeck, you would have trusted every single member of this crew. Ask yourself what has changed in the last 5 days, and then ask yourself if you can trust the entire crew." But before she had a chance to answer, West burst out with anger. "You are way out of line mister!" Davis didn’t need anyone to come to her defense, she agreed that it was a valid question, but she also knew West was only trying to protect her integrity as well as position. "This is not your investigation, it's not even mine. It's the responsibility of the ships command officers to investigate things of this nature and that is exactly what we are doing here." It was then that West started to look faint, his color drained from his face. ~Something’s wrong,~ she thought. He isn't stabilised yet!" Now Madison was angry with herself for letting him in on the interrogation. She knew he would get angry and that he was in no condition for what was about to come of this, but it was his line of work and he did know a little more than her when it came to interrogations, that much she would admit. She had a feeling something of this nature would happen to him, now she was sure he was done for good. After his collapse, she wasn’t about to let him anywhere near the investigation again. "Alright, Banowsky to sickbay, emergency beam out for commander West." =^=Aye sir=^= came the reply as Commander West was transported to Sickbay. Watching as the transporter shimmered over West, she made sure he was out of the room before standing up and leaning against the table. Looking at the guard, she nodded for him to let down the forcefield so Nymes could go to West. “I’ll let you go to Commander West. Commander Banowsky will be with you at all times,” she said to Nymes, knowing at that moment he could probably care less. Then she looked at Banowsky and said, “The two of you get going. "Sir Aye ,cya soon !"Ash closed the channel this time. Ash didn't trust chance, he decided to make it as safe as possible for himself. He copied some thing from the console in front of him and left for Ens.Chance's quarters. (U.S.S. For a second the lights flickered inside Chance's quarters before coming back to normal. Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-Sickbay- Dr Nymes-0941) ~How soon a paradise can become militarised~ Nymes thought, as he returned to sickbay through the transporter. West lay, dying, on the biobed, and Nymes knew that Banowsky's beam out had done more harm than good, it was fifty fifty whether West would ever wake up from this. Nymes had returned to his workplace with a fully armed entourage - why they thought phaser rifles were necessary, or why a full 6 mn detail was required, he had no idea. Banowsky was standing in Sickbay, surveying the scene, Nymes thought he was wondering how West had got into this mess, and whether it was Lewis' fault. Nymes, however, was in his element, and forgot all the problems, all the accusations, all the distractions, even the fact he was now wearing a communicator (as a prisoner tag). "Get the crash trolley, now, nurse" he ordered. "Don't look at the brass, look at me. This is a Fitness to Command Exercise, but this IS a real patient." FCE was a cadet training tool, but it was a believable lie to halt questions about his appearance - he was without the jacket of his uniform, his appearance was grimy, to say the least, having spent 6 hours in a brig cell. "Good," Nymes replied as the trolley arrived, and Nymes finally go the biobed scans back, but it wasn't happy reading. "Commander, You can keep your grunts with you, but I must insist you get out of this area or scrub up. Its going to be Operating protocols in a minute." Nymes worked to clear the airway, but everytime the blood was removed, it reappeared, dark blood was replaced with bright red, an artery had been severed, somehow. Bags of fluid were set up through a hypospray pump, and the airway was maintained only by bypassing the mouth and nose altogether, and placing a cricothyroidotomy tube, arachaic, but effective, connected to a breathing machine. "Okay, Commander, you're in good hands here, we've had to but a tube in to help your breathing, wer're giving you some fluid and blood, and we will do an emergency operation... so we're going to anaethetise you now." Nymes pressed the hypospray of anaethazine into West's neck, looked at the biobed monitor and knew the patient was as stable as he was going to be at this stage of the operation, and without being seen, palmed the drug vial. "I meant what I said, commander - get clean or don't come in." Nymes said, as he walked into the operating sonic shower, walking out he donned the surgical gown and gloves, without thinking of his bodyguard he dove straight in with the max-facks surgery. (USS Dennison - Sickbay - Dr Nymes - 1150) Nymes finished the last dermal regeneration with a simple movement, and looked up at the single guard that was stationed with him. "Commander, I have to check some bloodwork before I can turf him to the nursing team, or are you going to turn the Sickbay into a brig?" (reply Banowsky) "Whatever you say." Nymes had a reckless idea - one that Whiskey would approve of himself, but one that was anathema to Lewis. As he looked at the cycling blood results, he tapped a few commands into the monitor, revealing a list of numbers - he was sure only one person would know what he was planning to do, and that person was helpfully asleep, oblivious to Nymes' thoughts, and, all being well, not needing any more medical care in the near future - Nymes didn't want to abandon his post if he was needed. Nymes made a note of the numbers on the screen, and walked to another monitor, checking the stocks of anaethezine. It was a risky move, and one that there was little chance of going back from, but if he was to clear his name, he needed his liberty. Steeling himself, he tapped the release command, and 30 litres of Anaethezine was sprayed into the atmosphere in Sickbay - a useful drug, for a trill - as it gave him 10 times dose protection, with the current concentrations, he had 5 minutes before he succumbed. ~More than enough time~ he though, as the guards fell immediately to sleep - no one had ever counted past 2 with this drug, except a trill, who had become hyper at 60, and then unconcious after fitting at 200. Not the best drug to use, then, really, but needs must. Tapping a series of commands out, he set a transporter lock, encoded it with a cyclic algorithm that would be difficult to decypher, and looked around the sickbay, with the sleeping, lucky, surviving patient of Nymes' last action. As an after thought, he opened the jefferies tube, and. grabbing a medical kit, and one of the phaser rifles from an unconcious guard, Nymes said "Computer, Emergency Medical Beam out, condition critical. One to beam directly to coordinate Delta four, Zero Three Alpha." It was an agent's loophole which he used to escape - one that was built into many of the fleet's ships to allow medical supplies to be immediately beamed to where they were needed, and during critical conditions, normal teleporter buffers would be used, allowing a greater range. The algorithm would scatter the lock data for a while, and Nymes felt confident that he wouldn't be found - they would, after all, be searching the ship, rather than the outside. ~No one knew why Nymes used D4-0 as his access code, but it stemmed from Whiskey's failed mission, and his designation - D4-0 was his control's callsign, the operation's callsign.~ As the teleporter whisked him away, the first people stirred from the floor, wondering how they had got there, who had done it, and why. Day: 3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (U.S.S. Dennison- Hanger Bay- Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious-1000) Chance walked through the door to the hanger bay thinking about what had happened overnight that became the center of so many rumors, the fact that the folks in sick bay insisted that he remain off duty for one more day to recover. After a shower and putting on some civilian clothes with the intent of taking another survey of the damage to his ship, he was surprised to see engineers and Technical Specialist working on both the Topaz and the Star Hawk. As he observed the organized chaos around both ships, a junior enlisted crewman walked by pointing out the patch on right sleeve of Chance’s jacket saying “Pirate scum, why the hell we rescue him?” Just as Chance was about to reprimand the crewman, a 1st class Petty Officer (who’s voice Chance recognized) beat him to it saying “What the hell is your problem crewman!? You think the Captain needs your approval of who we take onboard!? Do you know who he is!?” As the crewman stuttered, and sputtered replying “I don’t have a problem Boats. She doesn’t need my approval Boats. No Boats, I don’t know who he is Boats.” Chance almost felt bad for the kid. Well, maybe not very bad anyway. “I know your family crewman, so I suggest you ask your uncle who Temerarious was; and before you move from that spot you apologize to him for your comment.” The Petty Officer stated. The crewman just looked at Chance with amazement in his eyes saying “Temerarious, Chance Temerarious.? Sir, I’m sorry for what I said. My uncle used to tell me stories about you and him during, what he refers to as, the war. Did you really beat someone to death with a piece of pipe?” Chance held up his hand to stop “Boats” from speaking, and spoke to the crewman himself “That’s Ensign Temerarious now. I accept your apology, and yes I did kill someone with a piece of pipe; and if you ever pass judgment on anyone like that again I’ll do the same to you. Now, back to work Fed!” As the crewman scampered away returning to his work on the Topaz, Chance turned to the Petty Officer “Tim Flanders, how the hell are you doing? I thought you said you’d never join Starfleet; what happened?” Shrugging his shoulders the man replied “Well, you know how it is Chance; jobs in your career field vanish and you have a nephew to raise.” “Actually; I don’t know first hand, just like I didn’t know your sister had kids?” Chance replied with an empathetic look on his face. Looking sorrowful, “She had one, too bad she died in an accident about 4 years ago now.” Tim said. “Oh, I’m sorry, I hope she didn’t suffer.” Grinning, Tim said “Don’t be, she led a full life; I thank God she didn’t suffer.” Brightening up as well Chance asked,”So Tim, when can I meet your nephew?” “Sorry, but you’ve already met him.” Tim said ashamed as he pointed to the crewman from earlier that was working on the Topaz. Putting his arm around Tim and good naturedly shaking him some “Don’t be sorry; he’s young, dumb, and….well, you know the rest.” Chance said, but continued “Bye-the-way, who’s in charge of the repairs for these ships?” Looking questioningly at Chance, “I’m the NCOIC, why?” Tim asked. “You were on every mission with me in the ‘Hawk during the war; and you helped me get to sick bay. I recognized your voice from yesterday. So I want you to make sure your team shows these two beat up boats the love they deserve while performing the repairs; okay.” Laughing Tim said “I can do that sir.” “Thanks. What time you get off shift?” “1800 hours; why?” “I thought we’d meet up for dinner and catch up.” “That sounds good sir; I’ll see you in Ten Forward.” “See ya then. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to explore the ship today. I had to get directions from Conference Room 4 to the nearest head so I could pee.” Chance finished, laughing at himself. “I’ll see ya at dinner sir.” Tim said laughing as Chance walked out of the hanger bay not sure where he would wind up on the Dennison. Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-Bridge - ACONN Ens sg Ele Night-10:01) [...The time is 10:00 hours...] ~Finally, 12 hours on, and its finally over.~ she thought as she tapped in her logout code and stood up, allowing the crewman behind her to take her seat. "Anything I need to know, ma'am?" he asked, adjusting the controls to a better level. "Nothing at all, Jira. Nothing but a spinning pyramid in this sector." she replied, before laughing and running a hand through her hair. "Call me if you need me." With that, Ele took her leave of the bridge, taking a turbolift down to ten forward to grab a drink and something to eat before heading to her bed, and grabbing whatever sleep she could. (USS Dennison - Ten Forward - ACONN Ele Night -1005) "So thats a potato salad, and a trillian tea? Not many on board drink that, miss." Ele shrugged, her taste in drinks had always been one for comment. "One of my friends introduced me to it - much better than a coffee after 12 hours on." "Well, so you say. Here's your food." Ele took the tray and ambled to the normal seats. She had lost count of the number of times the quartet of Nymes, Divay, Bracken and Night hadsat here over an evening meal - dinner for the main part, and a breakfast for Ele, running as she was as CONN for the Night shift and deputy to the Ship's XO. As she sat eating her food, she wondered what the meeting had been about - the oddity was that there hadn't been a senior staff meeting called at the normal time of 0800 - and Captain Davis was usually one to keep that as a tradition that you could set your watch by. So something was up, but what was completely unguessable. Ash fluttered across Ele's mind as he had been late to the bridge for his shift, and had left soon after to the science department. His timekeeping was his little character quirk - he was an honest officer, and keen to please, but Ele couldn't help but feel that her friend had some serious issues in his past. Ash had left his post to see Dee. Despite Dee's best efforts, it seemed that Ash haboured some feelings toward her, but Ele wasn't concerned about that at all: Dee had been a good friend towards her and Lewis, and her ascent to CSO quite valid, even if Lt Trewe was still there, an ever present safety net. Sickbay, on the other hand, had no such safety net - Admiral Gr'iann had promoted Nymes and then upped sticks and left, leaving the Dennison with one Doctor - though the Ops logs suggested another Doctor had been expected to join them yesterday - but the shuttle hadn't arrived. Nymes had suffered the indigity of a demotion hours after his promotion as well, and due to the lack of a senior meeting, Night had no idea as to his current state of mind. Which left Ele, as she finished eating her salad, and curled up on the sofa facing the starfield. She had made SG within a year of leaving for the fleet, and though she had accepted the ACONN post on the Dennison - a step down from CONN on the Defiant class Brilliant - she felt that the Dennison was more of a home than she cared to admit. The lack of a visible Chief CONN allowed her to think of career advancement that way, but she was content with the current status quo, and her position in it. Sitting back, she sipped her trillian tea deep in thought, wondering what she should do with her time off, before the inevitable call back to station came, at 2200 hours. The business with Lewis was troubling her very deeply. She had no doubt that he was innocent, bu truth be told, she actually knew very little about the Nymes Symbiote, he had mentioned previously that ~it?~ had been in the fleet for decades, under various guises and in various roles, but Dale actually knew very little certain fact. She realised that there would be probably very few who did, but one person did, or more correctly, would know more than most. Regrettably, Dale realised that Ele probably didn’t know of Lewis’ arrest as yet. “Computer, give current location of Ens Night.” “Ens. The outfit was topped off with a straw cowboy hat. The only reason he wasn’t in uniform during his regular duty hours was because the medical personnel in Sick Bay released him that morning so they would have room in Conference Room 4 for crew that aren’t able to get out of bed yet. The condition of his release was with no duty until 0800 hours the next morning, but told him that if his wounds started to bleed again, report back to Sick Bay. Walking over to the Ops station to find out what work has been done to the Star Hawk, and the Topaz. He was also curious to find out if the rumors he heard about Nymes being arrested were true or not. Chance liked the guy for the most part; the only thing he had against Nymes was that he ordered Chance to all but abandon the ‘Hawk. Chance had seen Night at her station as he went to his. He thought about startling her because she seemed, to him anyway, to be so absorbed in what she was doing. As he quietly walked up behind her he thought ~you know, she is pretty cute, but a bit on the young side for my taste~. Dennison- Ten Forward- Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious-1045) Chance had spent the last several minutes sitting in Ten Forward sitting off to one side of the window looking out at an angle at the telescope and stars thinking about the rumors he had heard about Dr. Nymes as he took his time drinking a tall glass of Long Island Tea. With on leg dangling over one arm of his chair Temerarious couldn’t stop himself from ease dropping on the different conversations that folks were having about the good doctor and the trouble he was in. Chance knew first hand that a busy pub was the place to discuss things of questionable legality and legitimately. Chance never liked the idea of helping without being asked, but as he watched the telescope floating among the stars in the window Temerarious made a decision. He had a “gut feeling” that Nymes’ main friends were good people, and he didn’t want to see any of them rotting away in some jail. It was only logical (kind of) that when someone was incarcerated, their friends would help to prove their innocence. Noticing someone from security entering Ten Forward, and looking around the room as if trying to find someone in particular; Chance didn’t think security was looking for him, but he had a good idea of who he was looking for. Tapping his comm. badge “Temerarious to Divay; what’s your security guy looking for in Ten Forward?” (Reply Divay) “Well, just to give you a heads up; there a rumors being discussed about you, Bracken and Night here in Ten Forward about ya’ll trying to do something to help Nymes.” (Reply Divay) “If you want, I’m willing to help; but it won’t do any of you or the Doc any good to be picked up by security for charges of conspiracy.” Chance said as he watched the security operative. Chance stopped and looked him in the eye “I’m conducting random cup-checks.” Chance almost felt sorry for the crewman only because he couldn’t be much over the age of 20; never the less, Temerarious dropped his hand out from behind his back, and with a flick of his wrist the crewman dropped to his knees grabbing his groin in pain. “That’s a cup-check, boy.” Chance said as he stepped over the crewman and headed to his quarters. (U.S.S. Dennison- Personal Quarters- Ops ENS (JG) Chance Temerarious-1100) True to his ward, Chance had put on a uniform and waited to see if the others would arrive. He really didn’t expect them to, but was hoping they would trust him enough to help. Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-Engineering-EO/CPO Sammy Ulston-11:05) "Hey Sammy! You're back!" Sammy smiled wordlessly as he walked through the doors to the Engineering decks, and was greeted by his colleagues. Giving a wave, he wandered into the Engineering office, but it was obvious that the replacement duty chief wasn't up to the job - PADD upon PADD were stacked up on the office's desk, and of the officer there was no sign. Sighing inwardly, he tapped a control on the desk, and activated the in-house commlink. "Duty chief to the engineering office." As he waited, Sammy perused his PADD - three lists of parts needed - one each for the shuttles and the holodecks. Having been down to the shuttlebay earlier, it looked like the Topaz needed some loving care, and a few replacement parts, whereas the Hawk looked, well, if it wasn't for sentimental reasons, the collection of blasted bulkheads and roasted relays looked like a whole heap of junk; there was little of the privateer's ship left, and would necessitate a complete rebuild and that could wait for its owner to recover. "Chief, you're back! I honestly don't know how you managed to run the night shift so swimmingly - you never seemed to get a backlog!" Sammy smiled in reply "It helps to be knocked unconcious when everything starts to go wrong, Phil" It was Phil's turn to smile. "I hear that, Sam. What can I do for you?" "I've got orders from the lovely Miss Night to renovate the Topaz, to get me back into work. I'll need..." "...Two gophers and some replicator time?" Phil finished "I wasn't going to say gophers: I'll take the two apprentices we've got - and get them out of your hair." "You have no idea how much that would speed things up around here, cheers Sammy." Phil replied, a shade embarrassed at his lengthy repair schedule. "Tracy; Stevenson, Get up here!" Sammy nodded - it was the duty chief's code to help one another out whenever you could; orders may be from above, from the officers, but the duty engineer would serve the ship primarily; then the orders; an experienced engineer could hear if a bulkhead was out of alignment. WIth the damages and repairs to get through, Phil had no time to teach the apprentices - and it was unlikly that Semme, half human as he may be, would accept that; and the new A'CEO was an unknown quantity, and not won to try with such a nonevent as a failing schedule. "Okay, Apprentices Tracy and Stevenson." Sammy addressed the two youthful faces - neither could be much older than 18, and still had the excited eyes of the new recruit. David Tracy was from New York City, back on Earth, and a keen velocity player. Iain Stevenson was known as Mack by the junior engineers - he hailed from Glasgow, famed city of shipbuilders. "I'm taking you under my wing today - we're going to do a full service of the Topaz shuttlecraft, repairing what's needed, and giving it a respray. Now I've done most of the bootwork already - I've got the parts list and repairs list on this PADD, but I want you to have a look at it first, see what you think needs doing. Use your eyes today, gentlemen!" Sammy led the two crewmen to the shuttlebay where the Topaz was hoisted on anti-grav platforms, ready for the inspection to continue. For a second the lights flickered inside Chance's quarters before coming back to normal. Watching Ash thinking ~what kind of an idiot does he think I am? ~ But deciding to keep up appearances just in case someone did reactivate the surveillance systems to his stateroom; he pointed in the appropriate direction saying “The head is over there; as for the uniform…I really am getting unpacked and settling in. I just wanted to make sure it fit before I put it in my wall locker.” As Chance continued to watch Ash doing his surveillance sweep of the room, he became happier by the moment that he did his research of Davis’ command staff. Chance’s problem is that he and about 20 other privateers were all hired by the very factions that the 52nd are opposed. The bigger problem is that about half want to defect to the 52nd and that includes Chance. Just then Ash spoke, "Don't worry I just disabled internal sensors in your quarters" Smirking, Chance looked at Ash “I don’t think you trust me and I don’t blame you for that. I wouldn’t trust me either. However, I think I can help.” "So what do you have in mind?" Ash asked him cutting to the point. “Ash, one thing I have noticed on this ship is that everyone over thinks things. I believe in the K.I.S.S. method. That being said; do you think it is possible for his symbiont to take full control of the host?” Chance asked. (Reply Divay) “Another idea is to take the physical evidence and prove that it is possible for anyone else to use the doc’s codes, which is easy enough to do, but to leave his bio signature behind is another story.” Said as he started to realize that the bio sample he had heard about in the rumors from Ten Forward might be more of an obstacle than the codes. (Reply Divay) Rubbing his head thought “What if somebody was able to scratch a skin sample off the doc without him thinking much of it, if not noticing it at all?” Chance asked. (Reply Divay) “Ash, what if this is just some small distraction in a larger game?” asked Chance as he got a nervous look on his face. (Reply Divay) Without even responding to Divay, he tapped his badge “Captain this is Temerarious” (Reply Davis) “Captain, I need to speak with you. I think Nymes is just a decoy.” (Reply Davis) As Chance listened to what the skipper was saying, he looked at Ash “You better leave and be careful ‘causes if my hunch is right things are gonna get messy quick.” (Reply Divay) (Reply Davis, Divay) (Posted by Charlie) ============================================================================================== Mission : Supernatural Day: 5 Mission : Past, Present…Future? Day: 3 Stardate : 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison –Quarters of Temerarious – ATAC/SEC Ensign Ash Divay –1106) "Ash, one thing I have noticed on this ship is that everyone over thinks things. I believe in the K.I.S.S. method. That being said; do you think it is possible for his symbiont to take full control of the host?" Chance asked. Ash raised an eyebrow, he knew Nymes had a past life which had something to do with SFI. ~Does he know about this? ~He wondered looking at Chance. "Chance ,from what ive seen for last few years serving with the Marines and now Fleet, I feel anything is possible, but chances of impossible things happening on their own are slim as compared to them happening due to actions of some party for whatever motive they might have." Ash said knowing from what he had read about doc from doc's personal files and by viewing the interrogation secretly. "Another idea is to take the physical evidence and prove that it is possible for anyone else to use the doc's codes, which is easy enough to do, but to leave his bio signature behind is another story." Chance said as he started to realize that the bio sample he had heard about in the rumors from Ten Forward might be more of an obstacle than the codes. "Physical evidence......!i might….."Ash stopped mid way his sentence ,~Lets wait and see what else he knows ~Ash decided in his mind. Rubbing his head thought "What if somebody was able to scratch a skin sample off the doc without him thinking much of it, if not noticing it at all?" Chance asked. "DNA tends to disintegrates over time Chance. if somebody did plan this they timed it pretty good. Unless there is someone on the inside planting evidence." Ash explained. "Ash, what if this is just some small distraction in a larger game?" asked Chance as he got a nervous look on his face. Ash knew something was fishy about all this ,he just didn't think it could be this big "Hmm that's a scary thought ,but u know what ,you could be right. Most of the security is working on this case. That's one hell of a distraction." He said standing up Without even responding to Divay, he tapped his badge "Captain this is Temerarious" While Chance talked with Davis ,Ash stayed silent as not to alert his CO that he was with Chance . As Chance listened to what the skipper was saying, he looked at Ash "You better leave and be careful 'causes if my hunch is right things are gonna get messy quick." This was sounding like a thriller holonovel Divay loved to hate every chance he got on holodeck. "Ok,ill talk to soon"he said ~Lets hope we don't end up dead like most of the secondary characters on those novels.~ Ash thought as he walked out of Chance's Quarters ~Next step ???~Ash wondered what he should do next ,then it occurred to him. ~I gotta find a way to talk to Doc~ Ash made his way to brig, knowing full well that he would probably not be allowed anywhere near Doc. Days: 5/3 Stardate: 2407.02.18 (USS Dennison-ShuttleOps - EO/CPO Sammy Ulston-1145) Sammy smiled as the apprentices got to work - they both were pretty advanced engineers, and had grown up with Topaz spec systems, even if they hadn't all been combined before. "Okay, guys, take a break, back here at 1230." a chorus of "Yes, chief" as a reply, and Sammy looked over his PADD of "short repairs to do": The entry after the two shuttles was "Everything holographic". letting himself have a wry smile, Sammy went to the shuttle ops computer and looked at the engineering holography system data - all the emitters were overpowered, and fused; but the EMH data was missing - not just offline, but completely corrupted. ~nothing to do there, that needs a reinstall~ All the medical hologram tech was missing or corrupted, whereas the emitters seemed to be the only ones working to spec. Something was wrong with that, but Sammy had no idea what he was dealing with. Sir, can you report to the bridge, the Ops system is going crazy here. =/\= Ele rolled her eyes, but got up and dressed, and made it to the bridge within 2 minutes - like being back at the academy. (USS Dennison - Bridge - ACONN Ele Night - 1153) Ele stepped out of the turbolift, and instantly knew something was wrong. "Ensign Night, reporting as ordered, sir" (reply whoever is in charge on the bridge/Davis) Ele nodded and moved to the Ops station, reviewing the logs as she had been directed; it was obvious that someone had used the transporter, but where they had beamed wasn't so obvious - the computer had no data pertaining to the beam out. "Sir, there's nothing on the system to suggest a location." (reply OiC/Davis) (posted by GC) ===============================================================================================
